Our Bodies are not our Enemies! Achieving Health

Friday, February 11th, 2011

When it comes to our bodies, we are not victims. In fact, we create our reality. Everything the body has created in the past or is currently manifesting is being created by you. Whatever is going on in your body is a reflection of all of the inputs it receives from you daily. The body only responds to its inputs: “The body’s condition is an expression of all input — physical, mental and spiritual all play an equally important role in your well being.

Physically – what you put into your body and on your body makes a difference. Many negative substances such as sugar, nicotine, alcohol, excess fat, and miscellaneous chemicals, can have a negative effect on the body. Some skin care products that you use may contain carcinogens like DEA, TEA, or SLS that when combined with nitrates become carcinogens. The government has a list of over 800 carcinogenic chemicals that are still commonly used in soaps, lotions, and other products that we put on our skin. And you have control over what you put on or in your body.

Mentally – what kind of information do you feed the mind? Is it positive, uplifting material or is it trash and worthless information? Good positive thoughts create endorphins, which are uplifting, anabolic (building-up) hormones. Unhealthy thoughts, focusing on disease, death or destruction create adrenaline and cortisol, which are catabolic (tearing down) hormones. I have a saying; “The Bible said it first.” Many of the self-help books that fill the bookshelves are based on biblical stories. The Bible is a place to get uplifting information.

Spiritually – I can’t give a specific example, where the spiritual realm affects the body directly, except by those who say that answered prayers have directly affected them. However it is well established that trust and faith contribute to a positive mental attitude creating anabolic hormones which contribute to a healthy physical body. Similarly, feelings such as doubt, guilt, shame, and remorse instill fear (the opposite of love), which leads to a catabolic state and dis-ease. If we can allow ourselves to believe in a Power Greater than ourselves, we can start to develop that trust and faith that is so important to life. It is important that we clarify and continue to define that Power Greater than ourselves so we don’t get caught in the trap of trusting something that can be detrimental. Jim Jones, who fed a group of people poisonous Kool-Aid ®, comes to mind as becoming spiritually attached to the wrong thing. If by chance you can make that Power greater than you GOD, then work on that perception — God can and will become a powerful influence in your life once you’ve accepted Him into your life.

Remember, YOU get to think what you want to think. No one can think for you. Question everything that you hear and read. Check it out, do your own homework and develop the ability to make a stand for what you believe in. Listen, learn and use discernment in all things.

Choose only those things that are good for your body. Remember that you get to think what you want to think! The choices you make are yours alone and you are responsible for them. All choices have consequences, even when you decide to leave the choice up to chance, by choosing not to choose. Do good things for your body on a Spiritual, mental, and physical level and your body will do good things for you.
